River Ranch is considered one of the most premier properties in the Lake Placid area and a perfect location for family gatherings.
This fabulous and very private home is located on the prestigious Adirondack Loj Road, a gateway to the High Peaks of the Adirondacks. The property includes 300 acres of open fields, wooded forestland and borders the Ausable River. The panoramic views of the High Peaks across this property are one of the most photographed scenes in the Adirondacks.
River Ranch was built in the 1930's using the wood and hand hewn beams from eight barns. The stones for the entranceway and the two large fireplaces came from Lake Champlain and the Ausable River. The house is a unique combination of rustic ranch and Adirondack decor, that is highlighted with elegant antique furniture and oriental rugs, offering guests a desirable blend of a by-gone era with modern conveniences.

The spacious living room boasts a two-story stone fireplace with elk head, vaulted ceiling with wooden beams, lofts on both sides of the living room, a grand piano and a giant picture window that presents visitors with views of glorious sunsets and Mt . Ampersand. The dining room is a formal room with split log walls, crystal chandelier and wall sconces. There is a separate room with cozy wet bar off the living room and the screened porch off the living room has plenty of seating and is attractively decorated with views of the High Peaks. The lower level holds a large playroom with a walk-in fireplace, ping pong and game tables with plenty of board games. There are two separate bedroom wings that offer a total of six bedrooms that all have nice views and comfortably sleep 12 people . 

There is a 10 mile network of groomed trails on the property that are excellent for cross country skiing, snowshoeing, hiking, running, biking, hunting, fishing, and horseback riding. Throughout the marked trail network, there are many views of the surrounding mountains and private access to the Ausable River, which is world famous for its fishing opportunities.

The quarter mile driveway adds to the privacy of the house, as well as providing a great sledding hill in the winter. Many of the fields are mowed and provide scenic locations to set up tents for weddings or large functions and one of the fields is groomed as a golf practice range. This wonderful Lake Placid Vacation Rental is only 3 miles from the Village Main Street, 10 miles from Whiteface Mountain and just minutes away from 5 golf courses.

River Ranch is a beautifully elegant home that is an excellent location for entertaining. This home was frequently used for VIP parties during the 1980 Winter Olympics and has been featured in photographs on the walls of New York City's Grand Central Station and in "Town & Country" magazine. River Ranch offers a Maximum of 6 parking spaces for guest use. The Town of North Elba, Village of Lake Placid has adopted new Short-Term Vacation Rental Regulations that include rental parking limitations for the maximum number of motor vehicles allowed on property. Parking is NOT permitted on any part of the lawn or on any part of a sidewalk and like other communities the ordinance asks that you obey all regulations when parking in public.

Q.  What type of vacation rental properties do you offer?
A.  We offer a wide selection of vacation rental properties ranging from cozy cabins to luxury retreats.  We set very high-standards to enhance your vacation experience and ensure guest satisfaction.  All Engel & Volkers rental properties are well maintained in desirable locations, fully furnished and tastefully appointed.
Q. What are your office hours?
A. Our office is open from 8:30 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. six days a week, Sunday’s by appointment and available to handle issues 24/7.
Q.  Where and when do I check-in the day of my arrival?
A.  Check in time is 4:00 p.m. unless we have approved and earlier check-in time. Please stop by our office to pick up your key and complimentary welcome tote. If you plan to arrive after 5:00 p.m., kindly let us know and we will make arrangements with you for key pickup.  Engel & Volkers is conveniently located at 2284 Saranac Avenue, Lake Placid, NY 12946. 
Q.  When is departure time?
A. The check-out time is 10:00 a.m., sharp. If possible, we will grant late check-out requests on the day of departure. Please call us at least 48 hours in advance if you wish to extend your check-out. Please note that late check-outs are not always available due to reservation turnovers.
Q. Is there a cleaning fee?
A. Yes, there is a one-time cleaning fee that applies to every rental. This fee is based on the number of bedrooms, bathrooms and overall size of the property. If you’d like additional housekeeping during your stay, please call us to book a mid-stay clean.
Q.  Are linens and towels included?
A.  Yes, all of our vacation rental properties include linens and towels at the property for your use.
Q.  Are paper products, soaps and other household supplies included?
Our vacation rentals are furnished with a start-up supply of paper and soap products. This includes paper towels, toilet paper, dishwashing soap, garbage bags, a clean sponge and laundry soap. Some homes may also have a basic supply of spices, cooking oil and cooking spray.  Depending on how long your stay is and your level of usage, you may need to purchase more of these items at any of the local grocery stores.
Q.  Are washers & dryers available?
A. Yes, most of our properties have a washer and dryer available.
Q. Are pets permitted?
A. Some of our vacation properties accept pets and a pet deposit is required.  Please look for a pet friendly designation on our web-site or call us and we can help arrange suitable accommodations.
Q. Is smoking allowed in my rental property?
A. No, smoking is strictly prohibited in any of our vacation properties.
Q. Is there air-conditioning in my rental property?
A.  Most properties do not have air conditioning since the average daily high temperature tends to hover around 75-80 degrees Fahrenheit during the summer months.
