Description

Welcome to the historic and impressive Highland Manor in Saranac Lake, NY, designed by renowned archietect William Coulter. A magnificent 5 bedroom and 4.2 bath home that proudly displays original and unique accents with a modern touch throughout. This wonderful vacation rental has an abundance of space inside and out, making this a perfect Adirondack getaway site for large groups or families to spread out and enjoy the vacation experience of a lifetime!

This lovely home is equipped with everything you need to make meals at home in the chef's kitchen with 6 burner gas range, 4 slice toaster, fridge/freezer, microwave, dishwasher, breakfast bar with seating for 4, separate walk-in pantry and there is even a desk area for ease of working or catching up on your social media while away! The dining/casual area has a table with seating for 4 in front of a large window overlooking the back garden and the 2nd pantry off the kitchen leads out to the garden and patio. The main floor also holds an impressive open entry hallway with a gas fireplace, sitting area and a den/library with a great variety of books, a smart TV (there is no cable), large sofa, rocking chair and another gas fireplace. The formal dining room with a woodstove has a table that seats 6 and the large, bright living room with electric fireplace has plenty of seating, pull out double sofa bed, lots of windows and more loaded bookshelves!  

Step upstairs on the gorgeously detailed stairway to reach a queen bedroom suite that was formerly maids quarters and can be closed off from the rest of the hallway. This suite is complete with living room, original claw tub and a separate shower in the bathroom, a laundry room and a hidden stairway leading to the kitchen. The roomy primary king bedroom suite has plenty of natural light, a sofa, walk-in closet with guest robes, ceiling fan and a jetted claw foot tub with large walk-in shower in the attached bathroom.

The second en-suite bedroom has an antique queen bed, rocking chair and an attached enclosed porch which is an original cure porch. The last two bedrooms share a full bath with claw tub and shower attachment. One of those bedrooms has a queen bed and the other holds both a queen and a full bed.

Take in the beautiful views from the enclosed 3 season porch complete with a table and 5 chairs, small bar with 2 chairs, rocking chair and a wicker sofa. The expansive 2 level back garden boasts outside lighting focused on a deck and the patio area with fireplace, 4 Adirondack chairs and steps to the lower level with large garden. Meander along a small woodland path along the edge of the property to reach seating under a tree with table and chairs for 4, a gas grill and a hammock swinging between two apple trees.

Be sure to check out the unique carriage house on the property that presents guest with an open gathering space with a barn table for rustic elegant dining.  

Highland Manor offers guests the perfect place to vacation in a mix of bygone and modern style in a perfect and grand setting that allows for a "stay at home" getaway or for the adventurerers in your group this great rental is also in close prximity to several amenities and sporting opportunities. Some of those amenities include Pendragon playhouse, golf, fishing, swimming, boating, skiing, hiking or take a short drive to Lake Placid Village with several Olympic Venues and much more!

There are seven fireplaces at the property.  Four of these are working - 1 electric, 2 gas, and 1 wood).  The fireplaces on the second floor are ornamental only.
 

What Awaits You

Register for the Saranac Lake 6er Hiking Challenge to earn a coveted 6er patch and ring the traditional 6er bell! Experience hikes with varied ranges of difficulty that start and end from the 6er Bell in Berkely Green Park to Mount Baker at 1.8 miles and move on to surrounding areas to climb McKenzie at 10 miles, Ampersand at 5.4 miles,  Scarface at 6.8 miles, Haystack at 6.6 miles and St. Regis at 6.6 miles. Some people stretch hikes out to months or years and the more adventurous aim to become a winter 6er or complete all hikes in 24 hours to become an Ultra 6er!

Jackrabbit Ski Trail presents visitors with  34 miles of groomed cross country/hiking trails that begin in Keene and pass through Lake Placid, Saranac Lake and Paul Smiths offering all day ski trips with plenty of entry/exit opportunities along the way.

Q.  What type of vacation rental properties do you offer?
A.  We offer a wide selection of vacation rental properties ranging from cozy cabins to luxury retreats.  We set very high-standards to enhance your vacation experience and ensure guest satisfaction.  All Engel & Volkers rental properties are well maintained in desirable locations, fully furnished and tastefully appointed.
Q. What are your office hours?
A. Our office is open from 8:30 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. six days a week, Sunday’s by appointment and available to handle issues 24/7.
Q.  Where and when do I check-in the day of my arrival?
A.  Check in time is 4:00 p.m. unless we have approved and earlier check-in time. Please stop by our office to pick up your key and complimentary welcome tote. If you plan to arrive after 5:00 p.m., kindly let us know and we will make arrangements with you for key pickup.  Engel & Volkers is conveniently located at 2284 Saranac Avenue, Lake Placid, NY 12946. 
Q.  When is departure time?
A. The check-out time is 10:00 a.m., sharp. If possible, we will grant late check-out requests on the day of departure. Please call us at least 48 hours in advance if you wish to extend your check-out. Please note that late check-outs are not always available due to reservation turnovers.
Q. Is there a cleaning fee?
A. Yes, there is a one-time cleaning fee that applies to every rental. This fee is based on the number of bedrooms, bathrooms and overall size of the property. If you’d like additional housekeeping during your stay, please call us to book a mid-stay clean.
Q.  Are linens and towels included?
A.  Yes, all of our vacation rental properties include linens and towels at the property for your use.
Q.  Are paper products, soaps and other household supplies included?
Our vacation rentals are furnished with a start-up supply of paper and soap products. This includes paper towels, toilet paper, dishwashing soap, garbage bags, a clean sponge and laundry soap. Some homes may also have a basic supply of spices, cooking oil and cooking spray.  Depending on how long your stay is and your level of usage, you may need to purchase more of these items at any of the local grocery stores.
Q.  Are washers & dryers available?
A. Yes, most of our properties have a washer and dryer available.
Q. Are pets permitted?
A. Some of our vacation properties accept pets and a pet deposit is required.  Please look for a pet friendly designation on our web-site or call us and we can help arrange suitable accommodations.
Q. Is smoking allowed in my rental property?
A. No, smoking is strictly prohibited in any of our vacation properties.
Q. Is there air-conditioning in my rental property?
A.  Most properties do not have air conditioning since the average daily high temperature tends to hover around 75-80 degrees Fahrenheit during the summer months.
